Gasteria — an ideal indoor plant

This month we are exploring why Gasteria make ideal house plants.

They do much better in shade than most succulents, as long as your indoor plants have plenty of light they should thrive. Just make sure it does not get direct sunlight all day, but some sun is perfect for them.

They are usually plump and showy plants. Colours range from different shades of green to some form of variegation. Make sure they are planted in well-draining soil and only water when completely dry. Very easy-care succulents.

Interesting fact: It received its name because of the shape of the flowers which resemble a stomach. Gaster is a Greek word meaning stomach.
