Kalanchoe Flapjack

The Kalanchoe Flapjack or the Paddle Plant (Kalanchoe thyrsiflora) is a exceptional succulent characterised by large, broad and flattened leaves with eye catching colours. Their large, fleshy leaves are mainly silvery-green, though they may turn quite red or deep pink on the margins when grown under bright light. The overall hue of the plant is flashy and, because of this, it has become quite popular for use in both indoor and outdoor succulent gardens.

Kalanchoe Flapjack is a very easy plant to grow as it tolerates sun or part shade and grows well in dry conditions with good drainage. It is moderate feeder and during the growing season, water it and allow the soil to dry before the next watering session. During the winter season it is advisable to avoid making frequent water amid to reduce the chance of root rot. The plant has yellow tubular flowers usually borne on tall stalks during winter or early spring, enhancing the appearance of this wonderful succulent. Because of the rosette shape of its foliage and heat and cold tolerance, Kalanchoo Flapjack is suitable for outside Australian gardens or as an individual decorative plant inside houses.
