Cacti- Golden Barrel Cactus- Echinocactus Grusonii
Echinocactus grusonii, commonly referred to as the Golden Barrel Cactus, Golden Ball, or Mother-in-Law's Cushion, is a well-known cactus species native to central Mexico. It's particularly popular in cultivation due to its distinctive globe-like shape and yellow spines, which can give it a 'golden' appearance.
Here are some details and cultivation notes:
Appearance: Mature plants are spherical to slightly elongated. As the cactus ages, it may become more cylindrical.
Spines: This cactus is known for its heavy, long, yellow spines which cover its ribbed surface.
Size: In the wild, they can grow up to 1 meter in height, but in cultivation, they're typically seen at smaller sizes.
Flowers: Golden Barrel Cactus can produce yellow flowers near the crown when mature, usually in mid-summer.
Growth Rate: They grow slowly, especially when young, but can grow faster as they get larger if given the right conditions
