Cacti Pincushion Cactus Magnifica
Pincushion Cactus Magnifica, or scientifically known as Parodia magnifica, is a kind of cactus that may be found only in southern part of Brazil. It is desirable for the total round spheric form, the dense pubescent crown of golden spines and the big and very bright yellow flowers, which makes it a star of collections of a cactus.
Appearance:
Shape and Size: The Pincushion Cactus Magnifica is bottom heavy and is characterised by a rather impressive and balanced appearance of a perfectly round sphere.
Spines: The plant itself is covered by dark green clusters containing numerous soft golden-yellow spines to its base which enhances the beauty of the plant besides serving as a protective layer.
Flowers: For the main attraction, in summer the mature plants may bear a circle of large lemon yellow flowers near the topping affording the plant an extra glow.
Growth Habits and Care:
Sunlight: Needs a lot of sunlight though it can withstand a little shade especially in the hot afternoon when its foliage is burnt by the scorching sun.
Soil: Needs to be planted in well-draining potting mix, suitable for cacti & succulents.
Watering: Water them moderately during the germination and growth period – which is during spring and summer – then let the soil become very dry before you water the plants again. During winter oversupply of water is not ideal and so one should water very sparingly as the cactus is not growing anymore.
Temperature: It does better when it is warm but it can manage short spells of cooler conditions so long as they are not wet. Protect from frost.
Additional Information:
Parodia magnifica is not a rapid growing species of cactus thus can be recommended for growing in containers.
A commonly cultivated plant choice on account of its ornamental quality and comparatively simple maintenance, echeveria cactus and succulents are part of the firm’s specialization.
The succulent plant housed in the red pot comes in a 80mm diameter container. While the image provides a representative depiction of what you will receive, but may vary slightly because no two succulents are the same.
