Cotyledon Tomentose Ladismithiensis
Cotyledon tomentosa subsp. ladismithiensis, affectionately called Bear's Paw, is a charming and unique succulent native to South Africa. It's a captivating addition to any succulent collection, drawing admiration for its fuzzy, paw-shaped leaves and compact growth habit.
Appearance:
Leaves: Thick, fleshy, and oblong leaves that resemble a bear's paw with its distinctive "claws" or "teeth" at the tips. The leaves are covered in a dense layer of fine, white hairs, giving them a velvety texture and a soft, gray-green appearance.
Size: This Cotyledon subspecies remains relatively small, typically growing to about 4-6 inches tall and wide, making it ideal for containers or small rock gardens.
Flowers: In the spring or summer, mature plants may produce tall, erect flower stalks bearing clusters of small, bell-shaped, orange or red flowers. However, flowering is not a common occurrence indoors.
Growth Habits and Care:
Sunlight: Thrives in bright, indirect light or partial shade.
Soil: Requires well-draining soil, such as a cactus or succulent mix.
Watering: Drought-tolerant once established; water moderately during the growing season, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings.
Temperature: Prefers warm temperatures but can tolerate cool temperatures if kept dry.
Maintenance: Minimal maintenance required.
The succulent plant housed in the red pot comes in a 80mm diameter container. While the image provides a representative depiction of what you will receive, but may vary slightly because no two succulents are the same.
