Haworthia cymbiformis, often called the Cathedral Window Haworthia, is a delightful little succulent that charms with its translucent "windows" and compact, boat-shaped leaves. This South African native is a favorite among collectors for its unique appearance, ease of care, and fascinating adaptations to arid environments.

Distinctive Features:

  • Boat-Shaped Leaves: The fleshy, light green leaves are shaped like tiny boats or canoes, giving the plant its species name "cymbiformis," which means "boat-shaped."

  • Translucent Tips: The leaves often have translucent tips or "windows," which allow sunlight to penetrate deep into the plant's tissues. This adaptation helps it to photosynthesize even when partially buried in the ground, a common occurrence in its natural habitat.

  • Clumping Growth:Haworthia cymbiformis forms attractive clumps of rosettes, creating a lush and textured display.

  • Delicate Flowers: In the spring, slender stalks emerge, bearing small, white, tubular flowers that add a touch of elegance.

Care and Cultivation:

  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Can tolerate some shade but may become etiolated (stretched out) if light levels are too low.

  • Water: Water moderately, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings.

  • Soil:Use a well-draining soil mix specifically formulated for succulents or cacti.

Why Choose Haworthia cymbiformis?

  • Unique Appearance:Its boat-shaped leaves and translucent windows create a fascinating and distinctive look.

  • Compact Size:Its small size makes it ideal for windowsills, terrariums, or small spaces.

  • Easy Care: Requires minimal attention, making it suitable for beginners and experienced gardeners alike.

  • Versatile:Can be grown indoors or outdoors in a suitable climate.

NOTE: Haworthia do like to have up to 70% shade or filtered light and its a good idea if they are kept in pots to re pot at least once per year.

The first photos serves a display purpose only. The succulent plant housed in the red pot comes in a 80mm diameter container. While the image provides a representative depiction of what you will receive, but may vary slightly because no two succulents are the same.
