The large, fleshy base swells to hold water: it is able to survive through even the dryest seasons. As the plant grows older, it forms large showy, glossy, dark green leaves on long, graceful, slender petioles which make it to look like an umbrella. Beautiful as it is, Jatropha Podagrica bears bunches corals red flowers that are Butterfly and Pollinator-friendly.
