Mangave Pineapple Express

The Mangave ‘Pineapple Express’ is a truly remarkable succulent hybrid that begins to draw attention with its striking dynamic and sharply tipped cuspate look accompanied by its unique hue. The shape of the leaves of Pineapple Express gives it the appearance of a pineapple: the top looks like a thin strip turning into a sharp point at the end. The foliage is deep green to blue-green with distinct red spots mainly when they are grown in full sun. This structure alongside with brightly contrasting colors makes ‘Pineapple Express’ one of the most easily recognized succulents.

This evergreen perennial of the Agave and Manfreda genera can grow up to 30-45 cm (12-18 inches) in height and up to 45-60 cm (18-24 inches) in width. It grows best in an area that receives full sunlight to partial shade and loves soils that drain well. It is also relatively care free and drought resistant, so it will thrive in less than optimal conditions and works well in xeriscaping or container gardens. Since it has quickly grown and develops in an unusual manner, it is ideal to be the centerpiece to rockeries or succulent planting.

Appearance:
