Sedum burrito also referred to as Burro’s Tail is a trailing succulent with cute, cylindrical leaves resembling beads. This plant comes from southern Mexico and you can place it in hanging containers or elevated garden containers as it will produce long elegant trailing stems. Light green to bluish green leaves appear at the tips of trailing stems making it a perfect addition to any indoor or outdoor succulent garden. It also includes tiny, star – shaped flowers of pink or red if the plant has matured in its growing process.

Just like most of the sedum varieties, Sedum Burrito plant is one of the easiest plants to grow as it requires very little attention. Despite its small size, it prefers a poor growing medium, in fact a cactus mix will do well for the plant as long as the soil is well-draining and the plant has access to bright, indirect light. It is drought resistant in that you should only water it when the soil is fully dry. This succulent is best handled with care because its leaves are highly fragile and inflorescence can readily drop.

Appearance

  • Leaves: Its signature feature is the abundance of small, plump, tear-drop shaped leaves that resemble tiny burritos, densely packed along trailing stems. These leaves are typically a soft green color with a subtle, powdery coating.

  • Stems: The stems can grow several feet long, cascading beautifully over the edges of pots or hanging baskets.

  • Flowers: Though rare indoors, mature plants may produce small, star-shaped pink or red flowers at the tips of the stems in the spring or summer.

Growth Habits and Care:

  • Sunlight: Thrives in bright, indirect light.

  • Soil: Requires well-draining soil, such as a cactus or succulent mix.

  • Watering: Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings.
