Senecio - String of Beans

Senecio is otherwise called String of Beans because it features small bean-shaped leaves that trail from thin strips like beans. These bright green, almost round little leaves look like small beans and that is why this plant is popular among the succulent owners, first of all because of its unique appearance and secondly because it is rather undemanding. Its growth habit is sprawling, so it is perfect for hanging baskets, where its vines can drape beautifully or for pots placed on shelves with foliage spilling over the side of the pot.

Originally from South Africa, Senecio – String of Beans will grow best in a bright, indirectly lit location and is a low-watering plant, perfect for those who do not have much time to care for their plants or those who have never kept a succulent before. It can tolerate the drought conditions for some times as well as occasional neglect due to its ability to store water in this part of the plant. This plant is rather interesting looking and perfectly suitable for growing in an indoor garden, while in outside conditions it grows best in rather warm and dry climate.
