Rhipsalis baccifera 'Licorice', commonly known as Licorice Rhipsalis, is a fascinating variety of the widespread epiphytic cactus found in tropical regions across the Americas and even in parts of Africa.
Growth Habit: Licorice Rhipsalis forms dense, cascading clusters of slender, cylindrical stems that can grow several feet long.
Leaf Characteristics: Unlike many cacti, Rhipsalis does not have true leaves but instead features long, pencil-like stems. The 'Licorice' variety is noted for its striking dark purple to nearly black stems, which are thin and segmented.
Flowers: Rhipsalis baccifera 'Licorice' blooms with small, white or pale pink flowers that appear along the stems.
Indoor Hanging Baskets: Ideal for hanging baskets in indoor settings, where its trailing stems and dark foliage can be displayed to full effect.
