Kalanchoe Tomentosa Dorothy Brown

The Kalanchoe Tomentosa ‘Dorothy Brown’ is an enhanced form of the famous Panda Plant characterized by dark, reddish-brown margins to the leaves and tomentose stems. An endemic plant to Madagascar this is a succulent plant characterized by large thick leaves that are silky or often hairy on the surface. The most unusual feature of the ‘Dorothy Brown’ variety is the warm, brownish-red border, contrasting with the greenish-gray pond in the middle of each leaf. Because of its small, bushy appearance, it is well-suited for placement in small containers, planted with other succulents or as a focal plant for any collection.

It is a native of Brazil and grows best in bright indirect light and can tolerate average to warm temperatures with good drainage. This plant is very drought tolerant and only needs water when its soil is very dry which makes it easy for beginners or for people who may not be able to attend to their plants as often as they should. Kalanchoe Tomentosa ‘Dorothy Brown’ is best known for its ornamental leaves, however, during its growing season in warm climates it may bloom small bell shaped flowers.
